Pastor Kurt grew up in Northwest Iowa. After high school he joined the army and lived a fairly wild and sinful life until he met Jesus. An Army friend shared the Gospel with Kurt, God granted Kurt the faith to believe it, and his life changed immediately and dramatically.
After graduating from the University of Iowa with a business degree, Kurt served in campus ministry. Later he started a successful business that provided income for him to continue in ministry. New Life Community Church was planted in Cedar Rapids in 1994. It was at that time that Pastor Kurt was ordained.
After 28 years of helping New Life become what it is today, he transitioned to serving full time in the international ministry God has given him. Through serving church networks in foreign countries, Kurt has had the privilege of teaching hundreds of Pastors through his conferences and books. Pastor Kurt has written 27 books, and his Christian Essentials have been distributed to thousands of Christians.
Kurt has been very happily married to his wife Brenda for over 30 years. They have 5 grown children, all married to wonderful Christian spouses, and who are active members of New Life. Kurt and Brenda enjoy their 13 grandchildren who all live within 15 minutes of their home. When Kurt is not working or wrestling with his grandchildren, he enjoys catching fish (as opposed to just fishing for fish).
