Brenda grew up on a farm in Southeast Iowa and became a Christian when she was 20 years old at the University of Iowa. A few years later she married her husband, Pastor Kurt. Kurt, Brenda, and their two oldest daughters moved to Cedar Rapids in 1994 to help start New Life Community Church. Since then, they raised and home-schooled their family of five and now enjoy spending time with their growing number of grandchildren. Brenda has always enjoyed administrative and bookkeeping work and is thankful to be able to use these skills to serve Christ at New Life. She also loves children and desires to want to help them come to know Christ at an early age. Thus, she coordinates our AWANA and Children’s Sunday School programs.
One of Brenda’s favorite scriptures is 1 Peter 4:10-11, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.”
